My speech
YOUTHS DRINKING AND SMOKING
90 percent of adult cigarette smokers began the habit before turning 18 and 28 percent of youths between 12 and 20 years old drink alcohol.Well today i am going to be talking about Reasons teens smoke and drink and How to stop teen smoking and drinking
Reasons teens smoke, The centers for control eliminates that every day 3 900 12-17 year-old kids smoke their first cigarette and another 1 000 become daily smokers.
Stopping teen smoking Youths often follow the lead of parents or older siblings. If kids see their parents or older siblings avoid smoking, there is less of a chance they will smoke. Those who grow up around the smell and sight of cigarettes are more likely to start buying packs. 20 percent of high school students smoke. Research shows many teen smokers think cigarettes are cool, so it might help to remind teens that yellow teeth, bad breath, smelly hair--all effects of smoking--are not very attractive.
Resons teens drink 28 percent of youths between 12 and 20 years old drink alcohol. Some drink due to increased stress or family problems, while others drink out of curiosity or to fit in. Like with smoking, peer pressure and lack of education can cause youths to drink.
Stoping Drinking is a major problem among youths. According to the CDC, 12- to 20-year-old drinkers consume 11 percent of the country's alcohol. Educating teens about the negative effects of alcohol can be a strong deterrent.
